Sailboat hire on the Norfolk Broads

Below, I have posted a lovely video of the river near Oliver’s Sailing Holidays on a late September’s evening. Sail past reed beds, observing the wildlife: cows grazing and if you are watching closely an Otter or two, whilst in your beautiful sail boat.

To find this area from our boatyard simply sail down the River Thurne towards Potter Heigham and take the first right.

This is the route to Hickling Broad Nature Reserve and the waterside pub, the Pleasure Boat Inn. Nearby there are Horsey Mere and wind pump from where you can walk to see the seals on Horsey beach and head to the Nelsons Head pub.

Both Hickling Broad and Horsey Dyke are stunning places to spend a night or three! The other moorings that we recommend on this part of the river are on Heigham Sound, these are totally isolated and tremendous for watching the wildlife at both sunrise and sunset.

You may notice that we were out on one of Martham Ferry’s electric day-hire boats!
